JoinRoute · Version 2026-10-21
1. What JoinRoute is
JoinRoute is operated by JoinRoute ("JoinRoute", "we").
JoinRoute connects people who are already making the same journey, so they can travel together and share the cost of fuel and running the vehicle. JoinRoute is not a taxi, cab or transport service. Ride Hosts are private individuals using their own car or bike for their own journey; they are not drivers employed by or working for JoinRoute.
2. Who can use JoinRoute
- You must be 18 or older and able to enter a contract under Indian law.
- You must give your real name, exactly as printed on your government ID, and your phone number, verify your email, and — to publish or book rides — pass the government photo ID check (a photo of the ID and a selfie taken in the app). Once your ID is verified, your name can be changed only by uploading an ID with the new name.
- Uploading someone else's ID, an edited or fake ID, or a selfie of another person leads to removal from JoinRoute and may be reported to the authorities.
- Ride Hosts must hold a valid driving licence and insurance for their vehicle, and keep it roadworthy. These are declared by the Ride Host; JoinRoute does not check vehicle documents.
3. Cost sharing, not fares
- The cost share is agreed in the app and paid directly by the passenger to the Ride Host (cash or UPI). JoinRoute does not handle payments and takes no commission.
- Prices are capped so that they only share costs. A Ride Host must not ask for more than the amount shown in the app, and must not use JoinRoute to make a profit or run a commercial service.
4. Free rides
- A Ride Host may offer seats for free. A free ride must stay free: the Ride Host must not ask for or accept money, fuel, a tip or anything else in return.
- A passenger on a free ride can report being asked to pay (once per trip, after the ride starts). Each report warns the Ride Host; 3 reports pause their free rides for 2 months. They can still offer rides with a cost share.
- JoinRoute looks at every report a Ride Host disputes and may remove reports that are not genuine. Repeated or serious misuse can lead to the account being suspended.
5. Booking and cancelling
- A seat is booked only when the Ride Host accepts the request. Phone numbers are shared only after that.
- Cancel as early as possible. Frequent or short-notice cancellations lower reliability, and short-notice cancellations by Ride Hosts can pause hosting.
6. Safety and conduct
- Follow traffic laws, wear seat belts, and bike passengers must wear a helmet.
- No harassment, discrimination, threats, alcohol or drugs while travelling, or unsafe driving.
- Use SOS in an emergency; it shares your live location with your emergency contacts and JoinRoute's safety team. Always call 112 for police, fire or ambulance.
- Report problems in the app. JoinRoute may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.
7. Responsibility
Each person is responsible for their own conduct and for the journey they choose to take. JoinRoute provides the platform to find each other and safety tools, but does not provide the transport. To the extent the law allows, JoinRoute is not liable for the acts of users or for losses arising from a shared journey. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer law.
8. Your account
You can download your data or delete your account at any time in Profile → Your account. We may update these terms; when we do, the app asks you to agree to the new version.
9. Contact and grievances
Email support@joinroute.in. Grievance Officer details: to be added before launch. These terms are governed by the laws of India; courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have jurisdiction.
